A Blue Bird Sort of Day

Simple design.

Spring is finally in the air! Apple blossoms are budding and the days are getting a little longer. The promise of warmer weather is getting more real every day. Let this newest design in the Mixed Media Club remind you of a cloudless bright blue sky and a bluebird sort of day!

Learn to paint a bluebird!

This fun little paint tutorial is a great addition to the #100daysoftexture experience. Layers of paint and pigmented paper modeling paste provided the perfect background for my little bird. This background was created using several techniques from previous club creations.

The more texture the better!

If layers and texture aren’t your thing, choose a different background from one of the many different options in the creative community. You could go more literal with a birch tree paint technique or more abstract using something as simple and readily available as plastic wrap to create texture.

Birch trees or plastic wrap design!

The very simple template provides a starting point for the paint tutorial, which of course includes layers. You can paint the wings directly onto your bird or make them separately and attach them with glue to add more dimension. The video shows both ways. It is your bluebird, so you get to decide. Who doesn’t love options?

Finish your design your way.

I addition to your template, you will also receive a supply list and guide, all printable for Mixed Media Club Maker Members! Become a Maker Member to get a new reusable template each month for a whole new design. Each design is customizable to your personal style or taste and can be used in so many ways for years to come! Learn new things each month to add to your creative tool box for endless creating at your finger tips whenever you need a little inspiration.

We hope you will try the Mixed Media Club this spring. Be sure and post your finished creations in our creative communities on Facebook and Youtube!

Happy Making!
