Slow is Fast and Fast is Slow

My favorite travel vlog family, Keep Your Daydream, says this all the time in reference to how making mistakes when you rush through something actually slows you down more than if you took the time to do it right in the first place.

I have been repeating this phrase to myself a lot this fall as I move at a much faster pace during this busiest time of the year for creative classes and parties.

My focus has been on the "Slow is Fast" part of the phrase. It has me thinking that more important than the pace is the doing. The fact that we are doing is what matters most. In a fast paced world, taking it slow requires effort and determination. It even sounds painful at times when we have a goal we are trying to reach. But, "slow going" is better than "no going".

This is especially true when it comes to being an artist. Art is a process that takes time. Getting there slowly is the only way to get there at all. So, today I encourage you to embrace the slow and get going. The reward lies in the process, a desired result is simply the bonus. So, slow is fast, but you have to start first.

What slow process have you been meaning to start?
