June Brings Thoughts of Calm Waters
I have have always coached makers to not sweat the background because the template design we add on top is the star of the show. Until now! The background in our June “Lazy Days of Summer” design release stole the show this time, in my opinion! Introducing the Pool Party Princess!
As a matter of fact, I enjoyed the process and results so much I created a second template to go with our princess! This one is called “Slow Paddle”.
Both of these represent two of my favorite summer activities! We spend a lot of time on kayaks in the sound here on the Outer Banks and the peaceful movement of the waters are one of the many wonderful things to take in. We also have a very nice water park where you will find me in the lazy river, thank you very much! No drops, swirls or standing waves for this girl!
Like many of our background techniques, this one is very therapeutic. It is also very satisfying to see it develop with each layer of paint. The fine detail we added last made all the difference. Sometimes the tiniest thing can have such a big impact, in art as well as in life! Whether you stick with true blues or incorporate greens and other water hues, your background is going to shine!
Choosing paper is always a highlight in the design process, but you will have even more fun picking out bright pool patterns for this one! And a princess needs some sparkle, so glam it up!
Enjoy creating this and many other fun Mixed Media designs inside of our Mixed Media Club!
Happy making!
