Love Shack!
We have been making this little shack on stilts in the studio since I created this simple template to compliment Donna Hollowell’s “Cottages” Mixed Media design that she gave us rights to teach when we took her spot in Kitty Hawk in 2020. Recently a group of life long friends invited me to facilitate a creative event for their first gathering since before 2020. You have their hostess with the “mostest”, Lynne, to thank for this recent Mixed Media Club release! She chose this single template to keep the session easy and the finished pieces transportable for her visiting besties. This fun and energetic group made the most adorable versions on 8×10 and 5×7 canvases. When one of them called theirs a “Love Shack”, the lightbulb went off in my head and the design became complete. It was such a perfect fit for this devoted B52s fan!
I had made one single standing “cottage on stilts” up to this point, which inspired Lynne’s choice for her party. But, with the new name now decided, this originally intended beach house could now grow into many incarnations of whatever a Love Shack might mean to its maker! Once I was back in my studio to do all of the things I do to ready a new design release, I was immediately inspired. A fish shack emerged first, followed by something with a Polynesian flare..
The background results varied due to the process chosen. There was a lot to be learned about using the photo transfer process which I will be covering in a future in depth backgrounds technique video to be released later this month. Of course, the template lends itself to a beachy theme, of course, and we have a several to choose from inside the Mixed Media Club library.
So far, my favorite version is the 4th one I made for the design release with a patriotic color theme. It will surely not be the last one I make! This simple design is great for card making, too! I cannot wait to see all of the LOVE from these shacks pour into the Creative Community!
Happy making!
