As you may know, we are committed to inspiring makers to make! One of the many ways we do this is through our Mixed Media Club! This designed for you creative space is full of inspiration, adding a new idea to the library of videos, templates and supply lists every single month! Once you get started, you won’t want to stop! Spring is packed full of activities as we make that last push to hard earned summer relaxation! It can be downright stressful. This month’s background technique will help you cope using the very therapeutic process of building texture with paint and stencils. Who knew how meditative pouncing could be? And the best part is, it doesn’t have to be perfect. Crisp, clean edges are not what we are going for here. Grab a sponge or brush and your favorite stencils for some layer building fun!

After your restorative stenciling sesh, you get to do what everyone who visits our studio loves the most, pick out paper and found objects! You can use any type of paper, scrapbook, painted book pages, magazines, and tissue paper to name a few. Our template will help you get started with the flower shapes, but you may find yourself cutting freestyle to fill your garden on canvas. Look outside or consult your favorite seed catalog for more flower varieties to inspire you. Buttons make a great addition to the flowers but finding something in nature may also be the ticket. From a single super detailed flower to a field full of color, your finished piece will be a one of a kind treasure!
